Although not a big name, even in terms of female boxing, Amara Kokietgym (13-3-1, 5), pictured, is a fighter worth putting on your radar. The 24 year old, who debuted way back in 2009 as a teenager, is a proven quality on the Asian front with a OPBF title reign behind her and 2 world title fights.
Despite losing both of those world title bouts Amara is one of the Thai's who does have an excellent chance of finally making the leap from contender to champion.
This past Friday saw Amara scoring her 6th straight win as she over came the debuting Nampetch Kwanjaisrikod (0-1) in an non-televised 6 rounder.
The bout, on paper a step backwards for Amara from her peak, was Amara's first in11 months and although she'll be disappointed not to have scored a stoppage she'll likely be happy to just get back to action. Not only has she wasted the last 11 months of her career but after a busy 2012, with 4 bouts, it really could be a case of getting back into the swing of things are getting some much needed victories under her belt.
If Amara loses another year of her career through inactivity it would be a real shame. She has talent, she's tough and has taken both Etsuko Tada and Mari Ando the distance in world title fights. Lets see her earning another title fight this year as she makes for fun to watch bouts.
