Choi claims second title
It's not every day that boxing in Korea steals the boxing headlines but's what's happened today thanks to a show on the small island of Wolmido off the coast of Incheon.
Although we've not yet got the full results from the show we did get to see the main even as Hyun-Mi Choi (8-0-1, 2) was in action. Choi, a defector from North Korea, moved up from Featherweight to Super Featherweight and claimed the WBA "interim" female Super Featherweight title thanks to a decision victory over Japanese stalwart Fujin Raika (25-8-1, 10).
The Choi/Raika bout was one of 3 females bouts on the card with Hye-Soo Park (3-6-1, 1) defeating Airada Sithsonram (2-1) via 5th round TKO for the PABA female Super Flyweight title in the other title bout on the show. The other 10 round bout saw Dan-Bi Kim (8-2-1, 2) taking a decision over Yokfah Sitkhrusin (0-4).
As well as the trio of female bouts the show also features 3 male bouts. The first of those, a 4 round bout in the Light Welterweight division saw Young-Hwan Jo (0-0-1) being held to a 2nd round technical draw by Jin-Wok Lee (1-1-1, 1).
The other bouts saw Won-Young Jung (3-4, 1) stopping Boo-Hyun Baek (3-4, 1) in the 4th and Yong-Don Um (5-1, 2) took out Sang-Il Lee (1-5, 1) inside a round.
We try and give you the latest results on all the fights from Asia.
