Heavy handed Japanese fighter Yuzo Kiyota (27-4-1, 25) successfully defended the OPBF Super Middleweight title earlier today as he stopped the over-matched and under-qualified Abhay Chand (16-14-4, 10).
Kiyota, a former world title challenger, always looked like a huge favourite here against the unknown Chand and it showed from the opening round. In the second round headclashes saw Chand coming off worse and left in pain. The pain for Chand got worse and in round 3 as Kiyota picked up the pace and in round 4 a low blow left the challenger rolling in agony whilst the champion was deducted a point.
Chand appeared to want out of the bout but was told to fight on after being given time to recover from the low blow. That time wasn't enough for Chand who was stopped the following round after a body shot dropped the challenger for the count, finally giving Chand his way out of the bout.
