Earlier today it was announced that Yuko Kuroki (12-4-1, 6), the WBC female Minimumweight champion, would be making the second defense of her title on title May 9th!
The champion, who won the title last May when she over-came Mari Ando, will be facing Japanese challenger Masae Akitaya (9-5-2, 3), who will be hoping it's 4th time lucky.
The pretty champion, who turns 24 next week, is unbeaten since being narrowly out pointed by Saemi Hanagata back in June 2013. Since then she has won 3 and draw one whilst claiming her world title and defending it once, against Katia Gutierrez. Although viewed by many as being little more than an attractive fighter Kuroki is genuine talented, battle hardened and much more than just a pretty face.
As for the challenger she'll be 37 on fight night and although significantly older than the champion she is still a fierce competitor and will know that this may be her last chance to claim a world title in boxing. In the past she has come up short against the likes of Momo Koseki, Ayaka Miya and Nao Ikeyama, however she's a tough fighter and will know that she has a winnable bout in front of her.
For those curious about the venue the fight will take place in Toyonaka City, Osaka.
