On Sunday Japanese fans will see the highly popular IBF Light Flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi (23-5, 12) [八重樫 東] defending his title against exciting Mexican warrior Martin Tecuapetla (13-6-3, 10). Today the two men took part in their medical ahead of the fight.
At the medical both men seemed to have similar physical statures, though the challenger was the taller man did have notable, though not huge, advantage in reach.
Notably the challengers main advantage seems to have been a remarkably low pulse rate, which sees his heart making less than 40 beats per minute at rest. That figures was said to be similar to that of a marathon runner and was put down to Tecuapetla doing significant training at altitude. If he can make the most of it then he will likely have a lot of energy down the stretch.
Yaegashi the clear betting favourite against Tecuapetla
