A month ago we reported that Japan's Tomomi Takano (7-1, 5) would be back in action on June 10th at the Korakuen Hall as part of the under-card for the IBF Super Bantamweight eliminator between Shingo Wake and Mike Tawatchai. When we reported that story the announcement was that Tomomi would be facing Filipino fighter Carleans Rivas (4-2-3) in a bout for the OPBF female Super Bantamweight title.
It's now been revealed that Rivas will not be fighting the Japanese fighter, instead Takano will be fighting Thailand's Nongbua Lookpraiaree (9-12-1, 1), though the bout will still be for the OPBF title.
On paper this is a big step down from fighting Rivas, at least given the comparative records of the Filipino and Thai. Hopefully however we do see Tomomi given a good test by the more experienced Thai.
The Thai has faced some notable foes, such as such as Nao Ikeyama, Gretchen Abanial and Samson Tor Buamas though they all came at a significantly lower weight than this bout will be fought at.
