At the end of 2014 it was known that talks were being made to pit unbeaten WBO Bantamweight champion Tomoki Kameda (31-0, 19) against WBA "regular" champion Jamie McDonnell (25-2-1, 12) in a unification contest. The bout has been spoken about by both teams and appears set to take place in the US. The only thing not yet announce would be the exact date or the specific venue.
Earlier today Tomoki took us a step closer to that announcement as he hinted that an announcement is likely to be made shortly. He didn't mention any specifics just that he thinks it will be made soon.
The hint was made on a recent blog entry that also featured pictures of Tomoki training alongside older brother Daiki Kameda (29-4, 18), who is expected to announce his comeback fight following more than a year of inactivity in the wake of his loss to Liborio Solis. It's thought that Daiki, Tomoki and oldest brother Koki Kameda (33-1, 18) may all feature on the same show with all 3 being handled by American advisor Al Haymon.
At the moment we've heard two dates being suggested for the Kameda Vs McDonnell fight. April 11th or the following Saturday, April 18th. If it's to be either of those date it would need to be announced relatively soon as we are only 5 or 6 weeks away from those dates.
