It was announced earlier today that 3,500 tickets for Shinsuke Yamanaka's (20-0-2, 15) WBC title defence against Belgium's Stephane Jamoye (25-4, 15) have already been sold through Yamanaka's supporters group. This has apparently smashed expectations for the group and it's now expected that the show will easily sell out the 16,000 seater Castle Hall in Osaka City.
Whilst their are tickets still available for the show it's thought that they will sell out well before the show and in term show just how popular both Yamanka and Hozumi Hasegawa (33-4, 15), who fights for the IBF Super Bantamweight title on the same show, are.
It's expected that this maybe Yamanka's sole bout in Japan this year with strong rumours suggesting his next bout will be in the US as he looks to try and force a bout with WBC Super Bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz. It's a bout that Yamanaka seems determined to get at some point and a bout that could give him huge exposure in the west where very few fans, unfortunately, know who he is.
This Teiken promoted show will also feature Takahiro Ao (25-3-1, 12) though no opponent has yet been named for the former 2-weight world champion.
