Over the last few days we have been contacted by the folks behind a 4 volume series of boxing books, "The Definitive History of World Championship Boxing". The books, written by the excellent Barry J. Hugman, have taken the author years to put together but are an invaluable source for all fight fans and are a testament to Barry's great work, some of which can be found on boxrec.com.
Whilst we don't typically carry adverts we couldn't help but share this series of books which are full of information and appear to be a genuine labour of love for Barry who has included so much research and detail in the series that it's hard not to get lost in reading them.
The books can be found on the American Amazon here, the British Amazon and even the Japanese Amazon, allowing boxing fans around the world a chance to dig into the depths of 146 years of world title fights.
For fight fans, historians and those interested in reading some excellently researched boxing information these books are well worth a purchase. For those with just a passing interest in the sport they are again a valuable tool for growing that interesting and will help everyone learn something new about the sport, the fighters and the champions for the past.
As mentioned there are 4 volumes in the series, each of the volumnes focuses on different weight classes. The first one of the books covers the Mini Flyweight to Bantamweight divisions, another covers Junior Bantamweight to Lightweight, another covers Junior Welterweight to Middleweight whilst the final book covers Super Middleweight to Heavyweight. Of course having all 4 books is brilliant and will allow anyone to flip through and read about all he title fighters from the sports rich history, for other fans however a personal focus may keep them to wanting, or needing, one of the books.
We'd like to say thanks to Barry for his hard work, which has been amazingly useful in the past, and many fight fans may well have read portions of his work on boxrec, where it's been a valuable tool for every fight fan over the last few years.
