Ealier today Japanese sources reported that OPBF female Super Flyweight champion Tamao Ozawa (14-3, 4) [小澤 瑶生] will be dropping down to Light Flyweight for her next bout, scheduled for May 14th. The Japanese fighter will take on former WBO female Minimumweight champion Su Yun Hong (14-1-1, 7) [홍서연], in a bout for the currently vacant WBO female Light Flyweight title.
For Ozawa the bout will be her first world title bout, but see her fighting against a world class fight for the second time following a loss last year to Mariana Juarez. The talented Japanese fighter has won two bouts since the loss to Juarez and will be dropping to a career lowest weight for this bout, giving her a likely weight advantage over Hong.
As for Hong the bout sees her getting her first "big 4" world title bout since losing the WBO Minimumweight title way back in 2014 to Mako Yamada in Korea. Since her sole loss Hong has gone 5-0-1 (2), though has really been fighting against limited novices on the whole since that loss. Notably for the Korean the bout will be her first bout outside of Korea since a 2012 bout in Macao, which saw her beat Buangern Onesongchaigym.
For fans interested, this bout will take place in Kyoto.
