Yesterday saw an interesting sparring session between OPBF Flyweight champion Takuma Inoue (6-0, 1) [井上 拓真] and former OPBF champion Ryo Matsumoto (17-0, 15) [松本 亮].
The two Ohashi gym fighters are both expected to be in the ring in early May, with potential world title fights likely to come later in the year. The spar is likely to have given both men a chance to hone their skills before their May bouts.
Last year saw both men have a year to remember. For Takuma he headlined a show for the first time and won his first professional title, whilst also receiving plaudits from the likes of Ring magazine. Whilst Matsumoto's racked up 4 notable wins and ended up gaining recognition from Ring Magazine as a fighter to watch, though some may suggest that that recognition was long over-due for one of Japan's most promising prospects.
