Just over 3 weeks ago we saw the potential FOTY candidate between Takashi Miura (30-3-2, 23) [三浦 隆司] and Orlando Salido (43-13-4-1, 30) being officially recognised as a done deal. Sadly though the bout, which was pencilled in for a December 17th date on HBO, is now off with Salido needing to pull out due to a back problem.
At the moment it's unclear whether Miura will still be on the card or not, though it does seem like everyone from fans to promoter Golden Boy Promotions and HBO, are wanting to secure Miura a suitable and viable opponent for the date, with some having mentioned Miguel Roman (56-11, 43) as a potential possibility.
Sadly the bout between Miura and Salido was seen as potentially the final major bout for FOTY consideration and to see it scrapped is disappointing. Thankfully though there is the possibility that we could see it rearranged for 2017, and we could see Miura in the US in December, further enhancing his profile before eventually being let loose in a savage bout with Salido.
