Earlier today it was revealed that Japanese Lightweight Takahiro Ao (27-3-1-1, 12) has had to pull out of his scheduled November 28th rematch with Gamaliel Diaz (38-13-3, 17) due to suffering an ankle injury in training.
The bout, which was scheduled to be part of the WOWOW Touch! show which features a pair of world title bouts, has been totally scrapped and it seems unlikely that the bout will be rearranged for a further date.
This is another hit to Ao's year which has also seen him fail in a WBO Lightweight title bout with Raymundo Beltran, who originally stopped Ao in 2 rounds before failing a drugs tests. That bout was later turned to a No Contest but is likely to be Ao's only bout of the year with this ankle injury likely to keep him on the shelf until 2016.
The bout was supposed to be a chance for Ao to avenge a 2012 loss to Diaz, who claimed a decision over the Japanese fighter to claim the WBC Super Featherweight title.
