Over the weekend out Australian friends aus-boxing.com informed us that a deal had been made for OPBF “interim” Welterweight champion Suyon Takayama (24-1, 8) [高山 樹延] to face Australia Jack Brubaker (10-1-1, 5), for Brubaker's OPBF title.
From what we understand the bout is set to take place on July 25th at the Korakuen Hall and although not yet announced it has been signed and sealed.
For Brubaker this will be the second defense of the title, and although he's the current “champion” the bout is a step up in class for the Aussie, who is fighting outside of Australia for the first time in his career. As for Takayama it's a chance to move up in class and claim the “regular” OPBF title in what would be one of his best wins to date.
We're expecting the bout to be confirmed by the Japanese side in the coming days, and we're also expecting an under-card for the bout to be announced shortly.
