Earlier today fans in Thailand saw a small show in Bangkok. The card wasn't hugely notable, except for the fact the show was littered with Japanese, or Japanese based, fighters.
Among those was Cobra Suwa (18-11-2, 10) [コブラ諏訪], who claimed the WBC ABC title at 154lbs following a 5th round stoppage win over Ratchasi Sithsaithong (6-3, 5). For Suwa the win saw him claim his third professional title and continue a perfect run at the Meenayothin Camp, in Bangkok, where he is now 3-0 (3).
Suwa's stable mate Vladimir Baez (21-2-2, 19), a Dominican who is now based in Japan fighting as "Destino Japan", made light work of Thailand's Veerawat Sithsaithong (0-1), who lasted just 67 seconds.
Another notable fighter on this card was former world title challenger Shin Ono (19-7-2, 3) [小野 心], who scored a rare stoppage win as he took out Phetsaifar Lukmaelamperigym (0-11), in the 2nd round.
One Japanese fighter who was taken the distance was Arumi Goto (3-0, 2) [後藤あゆみ], who went 4 rounds with the wonderfully named Wondergirl Sithsaithong (0-1).
