On March 4th Shinsuke Yamanaka (24-0-2, 17) [山中 慎介] will return to the ring to defend his WBC Bantamweight title against aggressive Venezuelan challenger Liborio Solis (23-3-1, 10) in what will be Yamanaka's 10th title defense.
Today, a little more than a month before that bout, Yamanaka has began full sparring and has shared the ring with two Filipino sparring partners who will help him prepare for Solis.
One of the partners is Jason Canoy, who was last seen in Japan last November when he faced the debuting Hinata Maruta [丸田 陽七太], who has been chosen for his similarities to Solis, including a similar style and similar frame, with both being around 5'4".
We're unsure who the other sparring partner is at the moment but we have been told that both will be giving Yamanaka good sparring as he focuses on a game plan to over-come Solis, who is unbeaten in Japan following wins over Daiki Kameda and Kohei Kono, though both of those bouts were at Super Flyweight.
