Earlier today it was announced that OPBF Super Bantamweight champion Shingo Wake (16-4-2, 9) would return to the ring on July 21st to make the 4th defence of his title.
Wake, who won the belt back in March last year, has swiftly run up defences scoring stoppages over Eita Kikuchi, Jhunriel Ramonal and Jovylito Aligarbes and has emerged as one of Japan's rising stars courtesy of his impressive run of results.
Although pretty unknown outside of his homeland, the sharp shooting Wake has began to get serious recognition from the title bodies. He is currently ranked by all 4 of the title bodies with his rankings suggesting that a world title fight is just around the corner.
No opponent has yet been named as Wake's next opponent but with the likes of Jae Sung Lee, Genesis Servania, Roli Gasca, Rasmanudin and Cuautemoc Vargas all holding OPBF rankings there is some serious choice out there. In an ideal world however he'd be facing the winner of this week's clash between Japanese champion Hidenori Otake and Takafumi Nakajima in what would be pretty much a world title eliminator level bout.

(Wake's world rankings are: WBA #6, WBC #7, WBO #10 and IBF #14, making him one of the very few fighters to be recognised by every organisation as a world level fighter)
