Earlier today Japanese fighter Shingo Wake (18-4-2, 11) took part in a public practice session ahead of his IBF Super Bantamweight eliminator with Thai veteran Mike Tawatchai (35-7-1, 21).
The talented slickster from Okayama spent 30 minutes training for the media with the time spent hitting the mitts with his trainer Mr Koguchi. Although their was no sparring Wake was said to have done a number of rounds to help prepare for the bout against Tawatchai.
Along side the training session was also a short press conference which saw Wake sounding very confident of picking up the win and moving towards a world title fight with Irish fighter Carl Frampton. It seems clear that Wake is happy to travel for the fight with the IBF champion though will, of course, need to get past Tawatchai. Whilst confident he didn't seem to be over-looking the Thai, who interestingly has a 1-7 record in bouts staged in Japan.
