Unfortunately this morning we received the disappointing news that Japanese Middleweight contender Ryota Murata (7-0, 5) had suffered a shoulder injury that would take some notable time to heal.
The announcement, made by Teiken head honcho Akihiro Honda, came with the disappointing news that Murata was likely to have made his US debut on September 11th, a day before Floyd Mayweather's next bout, in what was likely to be a world title prelude.
It now seems that Murata's US debut will take place a month later than first anticipated, with an October date looking likely, though not specifics have been announced.
Although the September 11th date was, by all accounts, locked down there was no formal announcement. From what we understand an announcement was due to be made in the coming weeks though given the injury we'll likely not find out who Murata was being matched with. Thankfully though the October date does look almost ideal and the plan will, still, be to match him with a solid contender, possibly a world ranked fighter.
