We've long known that IBF Super Bantamweight manadatory title challenger Ryosuke Iwasa (22-2, 14) [岩佐 亮佑] would be in action on March 2nd as part of a Teiken promoted card in Tokyo. Although we've known about that for a while we had no idea who he was set to be fighting.
Thankfully today we saw that change with Iwasa's opponent for the show being named as Filipino novice Glenn Medura (8-1-1, 5), who will battle Iwasa in an 8 rounder at 124lbs.
Iwasa, who has a bout with Yukinori Oguni later in the year, will be using this bout as a warm up ahead of his world title fight and the former OPBF and JBC Bantamweight champion will be strongly favoured here. However Medura is in some good form with 8 straight wins following a 0-1-1 start to his professional career. Despite being in good form the Filipino lacks a notable win and has been fighting between Super Flyweight and Featherweight.
For fans interested the bout will be aired on G+ as part of the under-card for the WBC Bantamweight weorld title bout between champion Shinsuke Yamanaka (26-0-2, 18) [山中慎介] and Mexican challenger Carlos Carlson (22-1, 13).
