BREAKING: Due to injury to Randy Caballero, IBF have ordered Lee Haskins to box Japan's Ryosuke Iwasa for Interim World Title.
Just a few hours ago it was announced by Jamie Sanigar, the manager of English fighter Lee Haskins (31-3, 13), that his fighter had been ordered to fight Japan's Ryosuke Iwasa (19-1, 12) in a bout for the IBF Bantamweight title.
This has come about due to a serious injury to current champion Randy Caballero (22-0, 13), who had to cancel a defense of his title earlier in the year and seems highly unlikely to be fit again for July, when a mandatory is due.
The teams of Iwasa and Haskins have been given 30 days to negotiate a deal or the bout will go to purse bids.
For both men this will be their first opportunity at a world title. This will see IWasa attempting to add the IBF title to a collection that already includes the Japanese and OPBF belts. For Haskins it's the end of a very long wait which has seen him claim English, British, Commonwealth and European titles since his career began more than 12 years ago.
