On Tuesday evening the three Japanese fighters who attended the Rio test event returned to Narita airport.
Whilst the tournament wasn't a memorable one for either Tomoya Tsuboi or Arashi Morisaka, who were both eliminated in their first bouts, it was a notable one for the very talented Ryomei Tanaka, who claimed the Gold medal in the 52KG division.
Tanaka, the younger brother of WBO Minimumweight champion Kosei Tanaka, began the tournament by beating Anthony Joseph on December 5th and then stopped Brazilian fighter Juliao Neto inside a round, courtesy of an injury stoppage the following day.
The three fighters will be hoping to qualify for the 2016 Olympics next year, when they compete in the Asian Qualification tournament.
