Earlier this week we reported that IBF Flyweight champion Johnriel Casimero (22-3, 14) was in talks to travel to England to make his first defense with a tentative date of "September" being given by those close to the Filipino. Originally that rumour suggested that his likely opponent was to be unbeaten Englishman Kevin Satchell (16-0, 3) however over the last 24 hours another Englishman has been linked to the Filipino.
That is the unbeaten Charlie Edwards (7-0, 3), who is an English champion and holds the WBC International silver Title.
The bout has only really been mentioned over the last day or two, though could potentially be put on to the recently announced September 10th card at the O2 Arena in London, which is set to be headlined by Gennady Golovkin Vs Kell Brook. Something that could help pull fans in to the venue given that Edwards is from the South East of England himself.
The bout is just a rumour at the moment but the pieces do seem to be fitting together for tbe IBF ranked Edwards to get a shot with a cryptic message from his promoter regarding an announcement on Monday and with Casimero already showing an interest in travelling to England.
Of course we have seen rumours like this vanish without a trace but it certainly seems likely that Casimero will be heading to the UK to face one opponent or another later this year.
Rumour-Johnriel Casimero heading to the UK for Kevin Satchell?
