Over the past 24 hours the IBF released their latest rankings, which featured a number of changes. One of the most notable of which has seen 18 year old Japanese fighter Riku Kano (9-1-1, 5) [加納陸] climb into the top 15 at Minimumweight.
The once beaten teenager has made it public that he is wanting to set the Japanese record for youngest champion and this ranking is a big step towards potentially fighting for a world title later in the year.
At the moment Kano's ranking is #13 though that may mean that he is just one good win from a top 10 ranking, and there is a real possibility that he will by pass the Japanese and OPBF scene for a world title fight in Thailand later in the year.
From what we understand Kano's next bout will be officially announced on March 10th at a press conference being held by Taisei Gym, with the bout being set for May 8th.
