We have just been informed that Hong Kong's highly popular Rex Tso (14-0, 9) will be on the November 22nd Macau card headlined by Manny Pacquiao's contest with Chris Algieri.
From the information we have Tso will be fighting against Japanese fighter Kenta Okumura (12-2-1, 3) in an 8 round bout in the Super Flyweight division as he hopes to continue his development towards a possible world title bout.
The bout was all but announced by Okumura's promoter Honda Gym who tweeted about the contest yesterday. It seems they've let the cat out of the bag before Top Rank, the promoter of the show, have had a chance to. Though in fairness to Honda Gym this is a great opportunity for one of their fighters and we can fully see why they were so happy to spill the beans.
On paper it looks like a safe bout for Tso who does have clear defensive issue though is unlikely to be punished too badly by the light punching Okumura. Saying that however the Japanese fighter will know that a win could be life changing and if he can upset Tso he will likely find himself heading towards a possible title fight with world rankings a probable reward for a win over Tso.
Although we are waiting for Top Rank to officially add the bout to the card it's unlikely that will take more than a few days to happen.
