World class Filipino fighter Randy Petalcorin (24-2-1, 18) returned to the ring earlier for his first bout sincr his controversial loss to Omari Kiweri back in April. The talented "Razor" wasn't in a major bout, and in fact it went under the radar completely, though saw him completely dominate veteran Donny Mabao (22-27-3, 4).
Petalcorin, the lighter man in the ring, looked the better fighter from the off and was too quick, too sharp and too talented for Mabao, who was game but totally outclassed. Following the win Petalcorin's manager, Peter Maniatis, stated that he had sent a challenge to WBC champion Ganigan Lopez but was also open to facing off with Akira Yaegashi, who is pencilled in for a December date in Japan. Sadly given those two offers it doesn't seem like Petalcorin's team are looking for a bout with WBA champion Ryoichi Taguchi, which is a bout we'd love to see.
With the win Petalcorin certainly gets his career back on track, and hopefully we will see him more active in the future than we've seen recently.
