Earlier today at the Prefectural Gymnasium in Osaka fans got the chance to see a female OPBF Flyweight title bout.
The contest saw the talented Tamao Ozawa (8-2, 2) claim her biggest win to date as she over-came the previously unbeaten Terumi Nuki (6-1, 3) in a highly competitive contests.
Coming in to the bout Nuki had been in great form stopping 3 of her last 4 foes. This however was a step up for her.
From the opening round Ozawa looked fast with nimble foot work, a sharp jab and a right hand that quickly found it's home. That level of success saw her taking an early lead and after 4 rounds Ozawa was in the lead. In the second half of the fight however Nuki fought back hard whilst Ozawa began to slow down. The shift in the fight saw the score cards all being razor thin though thankfully for Ozawa she had done just enough to hold on and take home the win, and the title with a split decision. The judges scorecards saw Ozawa winning 77-76 and 77-75 whilst the dissenting judge had Nuki winning 77-76.
