Tomorrow fight fans in Kyoto will get the chance to see a world title fight, as Tamao Ozawa (14-3, 4) [小澤 瑶生] battles with Korean foe Su Yun Hong (14-1-1, 7) [홍서연] in a bout for the vacant WBO female Light Flyweight title. Today, ahead of that bout, both fighters took part in their weigh in and both made weight.
On the scales Ozawa came in at a career low of 108lbs. The Japanese fighter, who is a former OPBF Super Flyweight champion, looked in good shape despite being so light compared to the rest of her career which has typically been fought as a Super Flyweight. She seemed confident and proud of her fan base, which have supported her through her up and down career.
Hong, a former WBO female Minimumweight champion, came in at 108lbs and also sounded confident as she stated she would become a 2-weight champion. She has held a minor titleat Light Flyweight but this is a big chance for her to hold a second major title and it seems clearshe has been putting in the preparation, whilst also showing real respect to Ozawa.
For fans interested Ozawa will be fighting in white gloves whilst Hong will be wearing black.
