Back in September we saw the official confirmation, and the announcement of Top Rank, of the WBO Featherweight title bout between Hiroshige Osawa (30-3-4, 19) [大沢 宏晋] and defending champion Oscar Valdez (20-0, 18), with the two men to fight on November 5th as part of the Manny Pacquiao Vs Jessie Vargas under-card.
Earlier today Osawa, and his team, took part in an press conference in Osaka.
The general vibe of the press conference seemed to be one of happiness at getting a world title fight, risk, with the feeling that it was a gamble to face someone as talented and heavy handed as Valdez, but that it was an opportunity that they were always going to take.
The gambling idea was something that seemed be a major theme, with the bout being a gamble for Osawa and being in the city of gambling, Las Vegas.
With the venue, the profile of the card, the world title bout and the high profile opportunity for Osawa there is a massive opportunity for Osawa to make a name for himself.
His team have been watching Valdez's bouts and mentioned watching him as an amateur against Vasyl Lomachenko and seem to be feeling their best weapon against Valdez will be the jab.
