According to sources in Thailand a deal has been reached for Nawaphon Por Chokchai (36-0, 28) [นวพล นครหลวงโปรโมชั่น] to face Mexican Juan Hernandez (33-2, 24) for the WBC Flyweight title.
The deal is that the men will fight in Thailand, in an indoor venue, in January. At the moment no date is yet set for the bout but as part of the agreement it will come on a Saturday in Thailand, to work out with Mexican TV which will air the bout as part of a late Friday card.
Notably the agreement has been reached with a caveat that the show will have at least one other, though possibly two other, Thai Vs Mexico bouts on the card. Those bouts haven't yet been confirmed though they will likely come at either 115lbs or 118lbs with Nawaphon's brother Suriyan Sor Rungvisai (47-7-1, 24) [สุริยัน ศ.รุ่งวิสัย] potentially being involved in one of those two match ups.
It seems like more details will be ironed out in the coming days but the agreement has seen the team avoid a purse bid scenario, which was apparently set to take place over the weekend had they not managed to make the deal they have currently agreed to.
