We reported a little while back that Naoya Inoue (6-0, 5) was sparring with Rocky Fuentes (35-7-2, 20) and Sonny Boy Jaro (36-13-5, 26). It seems that the sparring has progressed well and Naoya has gone from 4 to 8 and now 12 rounds in the sessions as he's built up his stamina ahead of his first world title defence.
Inoue did the 12 round session on Thursday as he shared the ring for 6 rounds a piece with the two veteran Filipino fighters. Whilst the work was hard, obviously, it does seem like Inoue had no problems with the distance and will now ease off on the stamina work to instead work on his defence, the part of his game which is regularly described as one of his weakest points.
Whilst no opponent has been named for Inoue's next fight we're expecting an announcement in the coming weeks with the Japanese wonder kid rumoured strongly to be in action in September.
