Earlier this week we reported that the Inoue clan was training on the lovely beaches in Atami. Now it seems that we're not the only ones making a name of this with one of our Japanese sources reporting that WBO Super Flyweight champion Naoya Inoue (9-0, 8) [井上 尚弥] has stated he's punching harder than ever before.
From what we understand the training has been about increasing the way the muscles work rather than technique and as a result the muscles have been in pain but it's lead to Inoue feeling like he's hitting harder than ever before, a worry for everyone else in the lower weights.
The same sources have also informed us that Naoya will begin sparring next week ahead of a Spring showdown with mandatory challenger David Carmona (20-2-5, 8), of Mexico. There is still no date or venue set for that bout, though we're hearing that it will take place during the "Golden Week" in Tokyo with Akira Yaegashi (23-5, 12) [八重樫 東] also set to defend his world title on the same card.
