Tomorrw fight fans in Japan will tune in to Fuji TV to see the second day of the 2017 Boxing Fes that the media giant are doing. The headline bout of tomorrow's show will see Naoya Inoue (12-0, 10) [井上 尚弥] defending his WBO Super Flyweight title against Ricardo Rodriguez (16-3, 5), with the bout being Inoue's 5th defense of the title and potentially being his final one before a move up in weight.
Earlier today both men tookpart in their wiegh in and both fighters made weight for the contest.
On the scales Inoue was bang on the divisional limit of 115lbs and looked in sensational shape, as he has done through his career. It's clear that whilst he could compete at 115lbs going forward his desire to dominate the division is coming second to his dreams of becoming a 3-weight champion and a move up, ion September, is likely with talk of the "Monster" invading the US and beginning the pursuit of a Bantamweight title in the very near future.
As for Rodriguez he was under the limit, by around 200g. The challenger looked in good shape, but no where near as physically impressive as Inoue. It was clear that he was still fancying his chances, but his demeanour has changed since he arrived in Japan and he has seemingly realised what sort of a task he is up against tomorrow.
The Monster looks to devour Rodriguez!
