Earlier today in Tokyo saw the official weigh in for tomorrow's IBF female Light Flyweight title fight between defending champion Naoko Shibata (13-3, 4) and former OPBF Minimumweight champion Saemi Hanagata (9-5-2, 4).
Surprisingly at the weigh in both fighters made the same weight, weighing in at 48.7KG, or a little over 107¼lbs.
Shibata, defending her belt for the 3rd time, is fighting a Japanese opponent for the first time since she defeated Mika Oda back in July 2013. Since then she claimed the world title in and in faced 3 successive Mexican opponents. As for Hanagata 7th straight bout against against a Japanese opponent, though incidentally it'll be her first bout since she fought Mika Oda last September. Notably for Hanagata this will be her first bout since she lost the OPBF Minimumweight title to Oda and her second world title bout following a loss to Momo Koseki back in December 2012.
