Tomorrow fight fans in Saitama will get two world title fights, the most notable of which will be an IBF female Light Flyweight title fight between defending champion Naoko Shibata (15-3-1, 5) [柴田 直子] and Mexican challenger Maria Salinas (11-4-3, 4), who will be fighting for the second time following a very well fought draw last year.
The women weighed in earlier today and both fighters made weight, as expected.
Shibata was the heavier fighter on the scales this morning, weighing in at just under 107.4lbs which heavier than she was in her first meeting with Salinas last November. Salinas was surprisingly 107.1lbs for the bout, well under the limit which she was bang on for last time these two women fought.
For Salinas the bout will be her first since these two met last year but it seems clear that she has been preparing and given her weigh in she has been preparing hard to become a world champion. For Shibata the hunger is there though some thoughts are that she is on the slide after a very tough career against tough fighters.
