After yesterday's news about Ryota's Murata (3-0. 3) next professional bout it appears Teiken have released the next set of plans for Murata.
Yesterday's news was that Murata would fighting on May 22nd in Japan against Mexico's Jesus Angel Nerio (12-3, 6) in what will be Murata's first 10 round contest. The plan after that is to give him one more fight this year and that will be on a show in a Top Rank promoted show in Singapore in September.
To begin 2015 Murata will travel to the US to make his US debut, tentatively being discussed for a Pacquiao undercard. Although no distance has been mentioned for that bout we'd expect a minimum of 8 rounds.
Later in 2015 Murata will again return to the US to fight a world ranked opponent with the hopes of climbing in to the world rankings in fight 7. Although we still think that'd be too early to challenger for a world title the idea seems to be get in the rankings and then develop towards a world title fight in late 2015.
No opponents have yet been suggest publicly for his US bouts but with around a year to go and 2 fights in between it seems silly to even be looking at names for that stage of his career. One name that does seem to be linked with him in the Japanese press though is Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26). We really don't envisage a Murata/Golovkin clash and in fact we'd be shocked if Golovkin was still at Middleweight come the middle of next year though if Murata develops as his team are hoping that would certainly be an interesting fight.
