WBC Atomeight champion Momo Koseki (20-2-1, 7) may not be a big name in world boxing but she is one of the most dominant fighters of her era. The domination continued earlier today when she recorded the 15th defence of her world title made extremely light work of over-matched Filipino challenger Aisah Alico (5-5, 4).
Koseki, who fights in the 102lb weight class, has struggled to get notable foes in recent bouts and as a result ended up with Alico today. Alico had lost her previous 3 bouts, had failed to win a bout of any type of note and was among the worst title challengers for any belt in recent years.
The difference in quality between the two fighters was clear from the off and Koseki did almost as she pleased. In the first round that didn't see a lot of aggression from the champion but in the second round the champion moved in to first gear and Alico crumbled, being counted out after just 89 seconds of round 2.
For Koseki this was essentially little more than a stay busy defense and we hope to see her in a more notable bout soon rather than wasting her time with bouts like this. As for Alico this really was just further evidence that she doesn't belong in the ring with any sort of title level fighter.
