Although we have had some good fights already this year it does seem like this coming weekend sees things go to a whole new level with a host of fights of genuine interest. One of those is a WBC Super Featherweight final eliminator between former world champion Takashi Miura (30-3-2, 23) [三浦 隆司] and the highly experienced Miguel Roman (56-11, 43), with the bout acting as the co-feature to a brilliant HBO show.
The bout sees both men battling to face the winner of the main event, a bout between current WBC champion Francisco Vargas (23-0-2, 17) and challenger Miguel Berchelt (30-1, 27), and is likely to be an hellacious war with a lot of great action.
Coming in to the bout Miura is the betting favourite. Earlier this week he was a 1/4 favourite though money has come on Roman and as a result the odds on Miura have become more backable, with the Japanese puncher now priced at a very attractive 1/2 to defeat Roman. Whilst Miura has become more backable the same can't quite be said for Roman, who has shortened from 11/4 earlier in the week to 13/8 this morning.
Whilst part of that could be fans remembering Miura's 2015 loss to Vargas, as well as the fact Miura only left for the US over the weekend, we can't help but feel that Miura at 1/2 is a genuinely brilliant price.
For those interested in the draw the price on that is 22/1, having shortened from 25/1 earlier in the week.
Given the rapid changes in the odds we would assume the odds will continue to move through the week as more money goes on the two men and we could see the odds tighten up a bit more come fight night.
