There are a lot of fights this weekend and on paper the most competitive of those involves an Asian fighter defending his title in the US. That fight is Takashi Miura (29-2-2, 22) who defends the WBC Super Featherweight title against unbeaten mandatory challenger Francisco Vargas (22-0-1, 16). On paper it's a thriller and hardcore fight fans seem to be aware of just how exciting is likely to be.
Yesterday the two men stared off for the first time and it seemed that both men really were ready, though some reports have suggested that Vargas did look slightly worried about coming up against the Japanese "Mexecutioner".
Interesting a few weeks ago it Miura who was the favourite, priced at around 4/6 now however the odds have evened out with some bookies just favouring the challenger, with odds of 10/11. With odds like that the bookies now appear to see the bout as a coin toss, suggesting just how even the bout is on paper. On Friday the men will weigh in before going to the ring on Saturday night in what could potentially be the latest FOTY contender.
Miura and Vargas, likely to bring fireworks to the Mandalay Bay!
