One of the most interesting looking bouts this weekend will see IBF Light Flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi (25-5, 13) [八重樫 東] battling with interim champion Milan Melindo (35-2, 12). Today, ahead of their bout, Melindo took part in a public workout and seemed confident, in great condition and like a man who feels he is about to become the solitary IBF Light Flyweight champion.
Melindo spoke in depth about his training camp, stating he had done more than 100 rounds of sparring for the bout and had been working incredibly hard in preparation for the contest. His preparation had helped him build up tremendous stamina and that he was mentally tough.
The stamina of Melindo's was shown during his work out, which lasted more than an hour and saw him really show off whilst really working hard. Not only did Melindo do around anhours's worth of work, but he did so in a sweat suit, as he looked to lose some of the remaining 2.5KG's he's got to lose by the weigh in on Sunday.
He looked sharp, accurate and in great condition for the bout, and it looks like his team feel he has the intelligence and skills to over-come Yaegashi and become a world champion at the third time of asking.
