We have been informed that the IBF Light Flyweight world title bout between defending champion Javier Mendoza (23-2-1, 19) and Filipino fighter Milan Melindo (32-1, 12) has been pushed back from May 9th to May 30th due to television conflicts, and it has also changed venue.
Originally the bout was set to go a week after the highly anticipated Welterweight clash between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Instead however that date has been taken up by the Light Middleweight clash between Mexican star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31) and James Kirkland (32-1, 28), with Canelo having his fights covered by Mexican TV giant TV Azteca, the same channel which will be showing the Mendoza Melindo bout.
From what we understand that change hasn't been a problem for Melindo or his team who seem to have taken it in their stride whilst continuing their preparation work in Los Angeles.
As well as the change in date the venue has also shifted. Originally the bout was supposed to take place in Tijuana though is now set for México City. Again that's not thought to be much of an issue for either of the fighters.
