Yesterday in Mexico saw the official weigh in for Saturday's female super fight between former-2 weight world champion Naoko Fujioka (12-1, 6) and popular Mexican fighting icon Mariana "Barbie" Juarez (40-7-3, 17).
The bout, which will be for the WBC female International Super Flyweight title, saw Juarez coming in on the Super Flyweight limit of 115lbs a little bit heavier than she has been in her last 3 bouts but the same as she was in recent wins over Tenkai Tsunami and Riyo Togo.
Amazingly Fujioka was nowhere near the maximum limit weighing in at just 113¼lbs, almost 2lbs inside the limit. Amazingly Fujioka was closer to the Flyweight limit than the Super Flyweight limit. In fact if anything the weight proved that Fujioka is a natural Flyweight looking to face the best opponent she can.
As well as being lighter Fujioka also appeared the much shorter fighter and will also be the older fighter, by more than 4 years. Despite the disadvantages the Japanese fighter seems confident of claiming a career defining victory here and proving that she has long been one of the sports most over-looked fighters.
