From what we understand Makoto Fuchigami (20-9, 11) will make his return to the ring on July 23rd as he has been added to the undercard of Nihito Arakawa's rematch with Akihiro Kondo.
Fuchigami is best known to many fans for his ill fated WBA Middleweight title fight with Gennady Golovkin, a bout that saw the Japanese fighter battered in just 3 rounds.
Although the loss to Golovkin is the lasting memory of Fuchigami he is actually an accomplished fighter having been a unified Japanese and OPBF Middleweight champion. Sadly however his career is on the rocks having lost 3 of his last 4 including the loss to Golovkin and subsequent defeats to Akio Shibata and Hikaru Nishida.
The Nishida loss, which came in March, was a huge hit for Fuchigami's career and although he's just 30 years old he will know he desperately needs a win on his return to the ring.
No opponent has yet been named for Fuchigami, but with his career literally on the line we imagine he will be fighting a very limited foe in the hope of rebuilding his confidence.
