On Thursday in Japan the fighters took part in their weigh ins ahead of Friday's fights. One of those fights is an intriguing Bantamweight contest between the once touted Kenji Kubo (5-3-1, 2) and 2014 Bantamweight Rookie of the Year Ryohei Takahashi (6-1-1). The bout may not be a massive bout but Kubo has said that he'll be taking a break from the sport if he comes up short here.
On the scales Kubo made the weight at the first time and looked in incredible shape. Takahashi on the other had failed weight on his first attempt, needing to remove his pants to make weight.
The fight will be Takahashi's first bout scheduled for 8 rounds whilst Kubo will be competing in his 6th bout over the distance. Whilst Takahashi is extending himself here in terms of distance he has won his last 6 bouts, following a 0-1-1 start to life as a professional fighter. Kubo on the other has really struggled recently with a 2-1-1 record in his last 4 bouts, including a TKO loss last time out to Ryoichi Tamura.
