One New Year's Eve fight fans in Nagoya and Tokyo get the chance to see the fantastic Kosei Tanaka (5-0, 2) make the first defense of his WBO Minimumweight title, as he faces dangerous Filipino Vic Saludar (11-1, 9). On Crhsitmas, ahead of that bout, Tanaka took part in a public work out with some of it being shown on CBC tv.
At the work out the talented Tanaka looked ridiculously fast in some in ring sparring, sod bag work and some pad work with the youngsters hands looking as blurringly accurate as ever.
With Tanaka making the first defence of his title it's fair to say a lot of pressure is on the youngster however is he wins the pressure will grow with calls for unification bouts in the first half of 2016. Despite the pressure the youngster is confident and seemed to hint that his gameplan was focussed on hunting a stoppage in the second half of the fight. He did however confess that Saludar is a dangerous foe and isn't the sort of fighter that you want to go into a war with, and will instead try to dictate the distance of the bout.
