We've long known that Kaiki Yuba (0-0) [湯場 海樹], the son of former 5-weight Japanese champion Tadashi Yuba, would be debuting on February 28th on the Dangan 176 card at the Korakuen Hall. Today we, finally, saw his opponent being named for the bout, with the opponent being named as Thai visitor Petchmahalert Eminent Air (0-4), who is looking to secure a win in Japan at the 5th time of asking.
Yuba, who's first name we had previously transcribed as Kaiju, is tipped for relatively big things and his debut will see him fighting in a 6 rounder at a contracted 62KG's, around 136.7lbs. Although 6 round debuts aren't rare in Japan they tend to be a mark of fighters with an amateur background and some expectations on their shoulders, something that Yuba will have given the success of his father.
The Yuba bout is one of a number of bouts, including an OPBF title fight between the fast rising Hiroto Kyoguchi (5-0, 5) [京口 紘人] and Filipino veteran Armando dela Cruz (25-14-3, 11) and a Japanese interim Flyweight title bout between former world title challenger Masayuki Kuroda (25-7-3, 15) [黒田 雅之] and Yuta Matsuo (12-2-1, 6) [ユータ松尾], as well as a number of really good looking suport bouts.
Although the card still hasn't been confirmed for boxingraise the general view is that it will be confirmed in the coming days, and it genuinely does look like a treat for fight fans with enough notable names and exciting match ups to give fight fans a genuinely enjoyable watch.
