The Chinese scene can be hard to keep on top of at times and as a result some bouts seem to take place with little or no notice. One such bout occured yesterday and saw Heavyweight hopeful Zhang Junlong (16-0, 16) [张君龙] extend his truly perfect record with an opening round stoppage against Bolivian veteran Saul Farah (64-22-3, 56).
The bout, held at the Grand Regency Hotel in Qingdao, lasted less than 90 seconds but saw the out matched Farah being dropped and the referee being forced to stop the bout.
With this being a 16th straight stoppage for the Chinese puncher there is now talk in China about Junlong moving towards a potential world title.
Very few details of the bout are available but from the images posted online it did look like Farah was totally out of shape, ane really hadn't turned up to do more than make up the numbers. Notably this was the 4th time he had been stopped inside a round.
