Talented Filipino Jerwin Ancajas (23-1-1, 15) appears to be set for a long awaited world title fight with the "Pretty Boy" set to travel to Puerto Rico for a shot at unbeaten IBF champion McJoe Arroyo (17-0, 8) in November.
The exciting Filipino, dubbed the "Pretty Boy", was originally preparing for a world title eliminator against once beaten British fighter Paul Butler though it seems that Butler pulled out of that possible contest leaving the IBF top ranked contender free to negotiate with the defending champion.
At the moment the details don't seem to 100% set in stone but the penciled in date is November 18th with the bout to take place in Puerto Rico, with some reports suggesting Fajardo is a likely venue for the bout.
For Arroyo this will be a second successive bout against a Filipino fighter, with the bout coming after his controversial technical decision win against Ancajas's countryman Arthur Villanueva, in a bout that many though Arroyo was very lucky to come out on top of. Sadly for Ancajas he will be going into the lion's den and the probability of him getting a decision in Puerto Rico would be slim.
Although once beaten Ancajas has really shined in recent times with 10 straight stoppage wins including two impressive performances in Macao on Top Rank cards. His form coming into this one will have filled him with confidence though of course Arroyo is also unbeaten and will be very confident himself, despite his less than inspiring performance against Villanueva.
Note-Ancajas is ranked #3 by the IBF however places 1 and 2 are both vacant.
