The early morning press from Japan today, May 16th, have suggested that the long awaited WBA Super Flyweight bout between Kohei Kono (30-8-1, 13) and Koki Kameda (33-1, 18) is now set for July.
The sources failed to mentioned a specific date though having long heard "July or August" it would be safe to assume the bout has been made for late July, possible July 25th, the final Saturday of the month. At the moment the PBC, who are now all but confirmed, don't list the bout on their schedule though they don't yet list any bouts after June 20th.
The bout has seemingly been sorted after very protracted negotiations which have plagued the careers of both men over the last 12 months. It's fair to suggest both cannot wait to get in to the ring for the first ever "All Japanese world title bout held on US soil" and then get back to their careers, following a political headache spearheaded by the WBA who ordered the mandatory defense for Kono.
