We are very sad to report that veteran boxing judge Kazumasa Kuwata has passed away aged 77 following a long career at ringside that saw him travel around the world to judge bouts.
Mr Kuwata has judged bouts since the 1970's and was ringside for numbers world title fights, such as Yoko Gushiken's second bout with Pedro Flores, in 1981, Roberto Duran's bout with Davey Moore in 1983, Marvin Johnson's 1986 bout with Leslie Stewart, Jeff Fenech's victory over Greg Richardosn and Orzubek Nazarov's victory over Dingaan Thobela in 1994.
Most recently he judged the OPBF title fight between Jomthong Chuwatana's and Koseki Nakama last August.
Whilst full details of Mr Kuwata's death haven't been made public we would like to pass our best wishes on to his family and friends. as well as the Japanese boxing community who have lost one of their longest serving and most recognisable judges.
